We had foreign visitors to stay in September and I did the usual tour of Worcester and the whole Three Counties. I was asked where my favourite spot is in Worcester itself and immediately I replied ‘ Cripplegate Park’ Don’t get me wrong, I love all the city, and especially the river, the Cathedral and the shopping facilities but if you want a tranquil spot Cripplegate Park is wonderful. If you go in Spring the carpets of crocus are a sight to behold, and it’s lovely just taking a stroll through. I took my visitors there and we sat in glorious sunshine and felt as though we were in a village out in the sticks not in the city as such. I just wish it had better parking facilities so that I could take my aged Mother in law for some walks.
I try to imagine it in its heyday long ago and bet it was certainly the place to be. I’d be interested to know how many new residents have taken the time to visit this lovely park!
