Have you ever been to Spetchley Car Boot Sale? If you haven’t you should, that’s if you like going to them of course. I’ve been to many over the years but this one is the best! It’s well organised and has heaps of stalls, and always a good atmosphere. The crowds come from miles around and although parking gets tricky there is usually space for everyone.
Have you ever run you own stall? I did once and never have since, I prefer to shop instead. When I did run the stall with a friend we were all packed up the night before and collected stuff from the garage and loft and went to bed exhausted. We set off cars loaded at 6 a.m to get in the queue and once in people were almost jumping on the car to see what goodies we were selling.
There must be an element of folks who know exactly what they want and try to spy it out as soon as they can.
It was a bit daunting at first, but eventually I shifted them away and set up our stall. We sold a fine old copper pan to a guy we think was a chef, and I kept the price high on purpose and he kept saying ‘No way’ but he did come back and I sold it for a good price. All the old curtains, crockery, and nick nacks kids toys, went too and I made £140 easily. It was a great experience but tiring and you have to have your wits about you. It really is a non stop few hours and some people can be very trying.
But, at least the sun was shining and we went home very pleased with our Sunday morning!
Try it, it’s the best one I know of.
