What would we do without our Soaps
The stories cheer us and bring us hope
We spend all day looking forward
We spend all night looking toward
That big square box that so attracts us
That keeps us glued to far-fetched plots
We know its silly and unreal
But we have to watch while we eat our meal
With a tray balanced precariously on our lap
We eat and watch never daring to nap
We are afraid to miss a minute
We sit like statutes still and mute
There is no longer conversation
No talking or laughing or simply a mention
What have we come to when this is our highlight
Our lives are dull and no longer bright
We really must all wake up
And do more than sit and watch and sup
There is a great big real world out there
So get out and see if you dare
The stories cheer us and bring us hope
We spend all day looking forward
We spend all night looking toward
That big square box that so attracts us
That keeps us glued to far-fetched plots
