This really has been a day of days
I feel I am floating in a haze
When my daughter told me to sit down
She had a smile - not a frown
I wondered what would this be
I had to contain myself and wait and see
My poem has been accepted!
Out of hundreds - not rejected
I was absolutely flabbergasted
As the art of poetry I thought I had not mastered
This is a first for me
But I always thought perhaps maybe
I was so amazed and excited
I felt so proud and elated
I could not believe that this has happened to me
But it was all there in the letter plain to see
It took a while to take it in
All afternoon I was in a spin
To have this happen at 50 years old
Never say never - you have to be bold
