Diets

By Linda Joy Ventura

Christmas celebrations are now over
New year with resolutions made - no bother
Our resolution is to go on a diet
When we're offered food we go very quiet

We long to stuff ourselves with food
But to eat and eat would do us no good
The more we deny ourselves our treats
The more we think of food to eat

How many calories in a packet of crisps
How long will it be before we can do up our zips
Every little calorie counts
Every pound on the scales surmounts

We have to have strong willpower
Otherwise the scales will never go lower
We weigh ourselves once a week
The outcome is sometimes very bleak

All we want is to be thin
Sometimes it’s as if we will never win
Why did we get it into our heads we are fat
Maybe subconsciously we want to attract

The resolution has gone by the by
It time to eat chocolate and get very high
Sticky buns and cakes and biscuits we'll eat
And never again attempt such a feat
