The invitation to the party came
We were happy to accept, we were game
We looked forward to the party all week
A present and a card we had to seek
A voucher and chocolates we bought
A present for a lady was suitable we thought
We got ourselves done up dressed to kill
Outfits that are designed to thrill
Off we went in the party mood
I expect we will drink too much and eat too much food
But as long as we have a good time
Lets eat and dance and drink lots of wine
We will see our friends and catch up on the news
A chance to chat and exchange views
A friendly debate and a good conversation
A passtime that goes back to our creation
As the evening wears on we begin to get weary
The wine takes its toll and our eyes go bleary
We feel happy and sated and content
A bit too tired now to dance so we lament
The time has come to stagger home
A good time was has by one and all
Tomorrow we will hope to recover
And hope we soon get asked to another
